[Biological feature]:
Most streptococcus faecalis are round or oval, can extend along the chain direction, the diameter is 0.5-1.0um, most are line in double chain or short chain, generally they don’t move. This bacteria colony on the culture medium is big and smooth, the diameter is 1-2mm, whole reason, and pigment is rare. They require low nutrition; can live on the common nutrient agar medium. They can grow in the meat soup culture medium with the temperature of 10-45°C, PH value of 9.6 or containing 6.5 percent of NaCl, can bear the temperature of65°C for 30 minutes, they can use arginine as energy, ferment sorbitol, do not ferment arabinose. They can grow on simple culture medium with folic acid.

Streptococcus faecalis are the feedstuff additive of poultries and livestock, they can protect the young poultries and livestock against diarrhea caused by disordering bacteria in intestinal tracts, and can adjust the disordering bacteria to normal, promote their growth.
